Well, check out other Kurosawa and Yimou films to start.

I didn’t really like Dreams, but you should definitely check out his earlier work (Ikiru, Lower Depths, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo (has that compressed feeling of his later films, but with an enormous scope), High and Low).

If you liked the sort of epic nature of the cinematography in Hero then Ashes of Time, Dragon Gate Inn, A Touch of Zen, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and films like that would probably interest you.

If you’re just interested in great cinematography then you should check out the films of David Lean (his earlier films are better, but his later epics are some of the most beautiful things ever put to film). Kenji Mizoguchi (consistently worked with one of the most talented cinematographers ever to live (Kazou Miyagawa)). Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s films are gorgeous, no other words to describe it. Tsai Ming-Liang is another filmmaker that just makes wonderfully dense and beautiful films. John Ford’s films have that big scope that influenced Kurosawa, and many, many others.

That might be a good number of directors to get you started.
