I use a broadband phone and save lots of money. The technology used in my phone is called VOIP (Voice over IP). VOIP is the routing of phone conversations over the Internet using an Internet Service provider. The service is provided by an Internet service provider or some other third party company. The broadband phone service acts just like a regular home phone. It uses a typical phone that can be purchased from almost any store that sells phones.
The broadband phone service offers everything the other phone services offers such as voice mail and call waiting however, these features are normally included in a basic package where as some phone companies may make these features cost extra. Typical broadband phone packages are costing around nowadays and usually include some sort of unlimited long distance package. I use a home network for my broadband phone due to the fact I have my Internet connection on my computer as well as my phone. This allows me to use all of them simultaneously.
One problem I noticed with the broadband phone is that if there is a power outage the phone also dies along with it. Also, of course if the Internet connection isnt working properly then neither will your phone. These are some things to think about when choosing to use a broadband phone. If you have a good backup for your electricity such as a circuit breaker then the broadband phone may be what you need to save some money on your phone bill.
